Whether you are trying to add some contrast, nice texture, cover up a scratch, or whatever, this easy to install vinyl overlay is a great choice.
It fits with our growing theme of 3D carbon vinyl and works well with genuine carbon fiber products as well.
This material is durable and will last for years. I source the vinyl for these products from US suppliers. They are often made in the US or Europe. Material standards are high.
For the 3D Carbon material, do not apply wax. Just clean with normal soap and water.

When purchasing vinyl overlays, keep in mind that not all materials are created equally. I use premium vinyl which has high initial costs, but are the industry standards for high quality materials. Also made in the USA.
Dragon Wrap™ Carbon Fiber Films (3D Carbon) is a 5.6 mil calendered vinyl film featuring a clear repositionable permanent acrylic adhesive on an air-egress liner. This film has excellent dimensional stability, outstanding durability and outdoor performance.
This repositionable permanent adhesive offers minimal initial bond growing to permanent bonds that facilitates application of large graphics. The air egress liner also aids in large graphic application. - Minimum application temperature is 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Up to 5 year durability outdoors. Rated EXCELLENT for WATER RESISTANCE, HUMIDITY RESISTANCE, and SOLVENT RESISTANCE.
INSTALLATION
We recommend keeping a hair dryer or heat gun around. Please note the back of the product. It is labeled with an arrow pointing to the "top". Since this is contour cut for this specific application, you are going to want to align it properly from the start.
NOTE: New addition for matte vinyl. Use a WET install for this. We recommend StickerFab Application fluid or at a minimum a cup of water mixed with 1 drop of dish soap. Also have a felt lined squeegee around. For 3D carbon it is optional. If you're more of a novice just use the wet install. Then use heat to dry it out.
Best environment to do the install is 75-85 degree weather. If it is ultra warm, then do it in the shade. If it is on the lower end, use the sun to your advantage. Clean the surface prior to install.
The material is very forgiving in case the alignment is not perfect so gently pull it up and gently push it back down when you get it aligned. In general it should have a uniform edge which overhangs the surface just a little bit.
The air egress channels will let you push out any bubbles. Always start from the center and push air out to the edge.
Once there are no bubbles, apply light amounts of heat around the edge and press down on the vinyl until it sticks to the edges.
